Trip: Trouble in the Paradise?
Friday, April 28th, 2006It’s been a fun filled two-day event with loads of moments to be cherished…. just the perfect idea of a trip is for to release our stress out….
It had been a lot of controversies prior to the trip. It was originally going to be set at Pangkor, and everyone is totally excited until we heard the cost of the trip: RM 300! and yes, there is a protest against the trip…. Then our lecturer decided to change the location to bring down the cost to RM 200, which is Port Dickson…. (Infamous for its dirty beaches and pollution), and ironically we stick to the oroiginal plan….. Until the final decision has reached, it is "Either PD or no go!" Well eventually only 90 of about 180 students went to this trip coz a whole bunch of people didn’t think its worth while.
We gathered in the carpark for the buses. The bus is about an hour late….. Then they are finally here! We arrived to a place to have luunch before we arrived to the resort…. The resort is located in the middle of the jungle… and it is heavily decorated in Malay-traditional house style. Honestly we’re just amazed with the view of the resort - in and out. The room is awesome… and the view of the sea and the swimming pool is breathtaking. Then it is off to some telematch games…..
Games were pretty fun… until i got hurt when I fell delibrately and scratched my right palm and my knee… The most interesting segment is the one where we hads to biuild a line using just about anything on our bodies… since my group we’re all guys, so we’re had to strip ourselves half naked to get a long line longer than the girls’…. then we had to be the "line" by lying on the grass… hence our group has grabbed the most attention… embrassingly been taken photos by 3 photographers…. >_<
Then it’s time for soaking ourselves into the pool…. then had the first meal in the resort…. It’s a bit disappointing to have a limited choice for the food…. but the taste is a-okay. Then there’s a fast-paced game of the treasure hunt (or more aptly the amazing race). My group: consists of my coursemates of 3 guys and 6 girls… managed to get 3rd place and had a hamper of snacks to indulge with…
The next day kick starts with breakfast then our first assignment… Sand sculpting…. I was shocked to see the selected sample of the sculpture… a knight on a pegasas (winged horse) with a castle as a backeground…. the sand scuplture was finished in the strike of noon with sand, sea, sweat, tanned skins and sunburns. We’re darn happy that the second assignment after lunch was cancelled and we played a simple tagging game. oh yea, my phone broke (for the 2nd time) during the game.
The climax of the event is the bbq night where we were dressed up to the nines for the event. I initially thought we are going to cook our own food… but it turned out to be handled but the staff… but they don’t really did a good job though… the barbercued food is either overcooked or undercooked… and yes the crowning of the best dressed were based on the support of the audience by cheering… (though I think it is so subjective) and bennet and michelle emerged as the best dressed…..
Performances are pretty swell all of them… but the best one is the cross-dressed fashion show by one group of international students…. we cheered and laughed at them…. and they are aptly rewarded. The finale was performed by the lecturer and our song bird: gnaliny with an indian dance.
Conclusion: Checked out with joys and smiles, with a lot of photos…. wished the trip will never end… reality really bites us in the end when we reached the campus. Although the journey of life is long and tiring, sometimes it’s worth it to take a break along the way, so that we can have a better journey later on….
