Criticism

Friday, May 19th, 2006

We have received a lot of criticism in life. Some good, some bad; some constructive, others just downright pissing on someone. Yes I admit I’m only human, making mistakes is common, and making mistakes is a way to learn not to make it again next time.

This blog has been criticised twice already to date… Both of then due to unsuitable content… Yes I lesten to my fans’ request, I deleted the parts that are deemed "unsuitable".

This post is short, but it sends a greater message: keep your comments flowing in": either in-person, messaging or just comment here!

Beautiful

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Remember, you are beautiful just like everyone else…. love yourselves peeps… Here’s my favorite song by Christina Aguilera.

Everyday is so wonderful
Then suddenly
It’s hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain
I’m so ashamed

I am beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can’t bring me down
I am beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can’t bring me down
Ohh no
So don’t you bring me down today

To all your friends you’re delirious
You’re so consumed
In all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The piece is gone
Left the puzzle undone
That’s the way it is

You are beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can’t bring you down
Ohh no
You are beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can’t bring you down
Ohh no
So don’t you bring me down today

No matter what we do
No matter what we say
The sun will shine your way
‘Cause you are beautiful today

Everywhere we go
The sun won’t always shine
But tomorrow’s another day
So keep on looking to the sky

We are beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can’t bring us down
Ohh no
We are beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can’t bring us down
Ohh no
So don’t you bring me down today

Don’t you bring me down today
Don’t you bring me down
Today

Up to the duty-free Island: Langkawi

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Even though the exams are near, I still took a chance to go to the tropical island of Langkawi, for the All-Asians debating event! I went there as an adjudicator (a.k.a. a judging panelist for debates) and almost 30 of us went to the bus for a 7 hour journey. We arrived at Kuala Kedah fishing village to get on a ferry to Langkawi….

When we arrive there, I was so excited to go to the beach in Chenang, which is way much beautiful than in Port Dickson. The sand is white and it is feels like flour. The sea is lovely in blue…. and the view is breathtaking…. Yes there offered water sports and we chose to ride on the banana boat (we rode on a float led by a speed boat) and we chilled on the beach. the second time we went to the other beach near the port, which i find it no different from other dirty beaches in the country. However, we manage to have fun while bury a person and create a sand sculptured mermaid and watching the sunset at the horizon.

Party nights seem to never ending when we had a party in our hotel room…. Opening night and closing ceremony is the time I get to mingle around and meet new friends from China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand and get together with friends from all over Malaysia and Singapore. (Yes I admit I am drawn to girls from Korea and Japan). There was a barbeque night which is a poolside party (where someone gets thrown to the pool) and the bar party where they announce the break and everyone goes party out loud with music and people dancing in the moonlight for hours.

Back to the debating scene, it was gruelling and intense, I managed to be a chair of the judging panel, but it is not what it seems. While it was pleasant to sit and listen a good debate, it is painful if the debate is otherwise. Our MMU team did quite well, having positive news during the first three days of prelimanary rounds. 4 teams broke to the round of 16, only three can qualify to the next round. Another good news is 6 adjudicators broke including me!!! everyone was over the moon on the night they announce it.

The rounds after that was more intense we witness 1 team lost in the octo-finals and the other in the quarters. The last team standing went on to the semi-finals and the final round meeting a debate team from India. Later on after the firey debate is over, MMU was announce as the champions!!!!

Ah, the days are over, but who can forget the people, the view and the most of all the parties, one of them which we gone out and singing in bedsheet-made-togas. Life goes on and the reality sets in with the prices of chocolates and other guilty pleasures of life are high and exam mood kicks in….

Leaving the Nest

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

Last week my family is officially moved to our new house in Seri Kembangan. The first time I stepped in the ouse, I was amazing on how it was renovated. The ceiling is heavily decorated, the lights are a bright and exaggerated. (We aren’t that rich but why does my dad wants to spend his EPF savings like that?) More so, we are happy to have a larger house to move around, a room to ourselves (no longer sharing with my sister), and extra bathrooms.

However, I still feel something is amiss there….. I still don’t really feel the homely atmosphere is Seri Kembangan. I still miss the good old Kuala Lumpur…. and Cheras too… 18 years of my life staying there….. must have some "feel" towards KL city life and most of all the suburban nature of Cheras and Pudu…..

It was like already 18 years living in the city-turned-metropolis. I live in the outskirts of KL. I still remember a herd of cows were raised in the empty field and walk past my house every evening, now the field has becomed a row of shophouses, with local residents start up small businesses. The market, which it is still a hustle and bustle scene, has changed from using large umbrellas from heat and rain to aluminum roofs built by the government. Hawker stalls grow from just stalls with tables around it to a cemented flooring with a permenent roof over it, but the taste of the food has never been compromised. Look, the bookstore where I used to buy stationery supplies and use photocopy stuffs has evolved from a simple bookstore to an expanded, air-conditioned and even recently installed glass doors to invite their good old customers.

Moving along the hectic city life, where my friends find places to hangout and have fun… arcades, bowling allies, cinemas, shops to browse, you name it. Shopping complexes sprawling in Bukit Bintang areas, with facilities that cater customers young and old. Traffic jam is unavoidable, but at least the public transport becomes more and more convienent and comfortable. From pink open-aired mini buses where squeezing is always happens, to air conditioned buses, LRTs and a monorail. Well seri kembangan is not that bad, except the network is not as complex as KL and fun places are often mean faraway.

OH well, time to make myself comfy in this new home…. Life goes on even when things changed….
